This is pretty heavy for 1966. My Uncle Peter used to see them live a lot back then so I was looking for him in the audience. No luck unfortunately.

Didn’t realize until near the end that was Dave Lee Travis introducing them. Not surprised to see him getting handsy with his female co-host.

I saw this lot at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1978 which was the second concert I ever went to and still the only metal gig I’ve seen. I remember it was so loud it made my jaw hurt, and when I remarked on the volume to the metal-head school friends I had gone with, they laughed and said “This is nothing! You should have been here for Ted Nugent and Motörhead!”

I think this record might be responsible for U2.

I think this is the best version of “Stay” I’ve ever heard. Having it paired with the sublime “Always Crashing In The Same Car” makes it even more of a treat.

Nearly everybody I knew back in 1982 had a copy of their Friends album, I hope you did too because it’s terrific. This shows that they could do the business live too.

This is so good. Even more amazing is that Benson was just sitting in the audience and turned in this performance at the drop of a hat with someone else’s guitar.

I don’t listen to The Bunnymen much these days but 19-year-old me thought Heaven Up Here was an utterly magnificent album. Watching this is giving me the urge to dig it out again.

Very meta seeing David Byrne sing “This ain’t no Mudd Club” at the actual Mudd Club. Right bunch of NYC downtown hipsters in the audience trying hard not to look impressed.
